Body Sculpting Q & A

What is body sculpting?

Body-sculpting treatments are noninvasive aesthetic procedures that help you get rid of stubborn pockets of unwanted fat. At Cryo Body Doc, Dr. Allingham uses CoolSculpting, an FDA-cleared, well-tolerated body-sculpting procedure that uses cryolipolysis technology to destroy unwanted fat cells.

Dr. Allingham uses CoolSculpting to sculpt and tone a variety of trouble spots, including your:

  • Abdomen
  • Flanks
  • Inner and outer thighs
  • Upper arms
  • Double chin

Body-sculpting treatments like CoolSculpting are safe and require no downtime to recover. Dr. Allingham provides consultations before recommending a body-sculpting procedure. In addition to performing a physical exam, he explains the treatment in detail and can answer any questions you have about how it works and what to expect.

How does CoolSculpting sculpt your body and remove fat?

CoolSculpting freezes your subdermal fat cells. Your fat crystalizes when it’s frozen, which destroys the cells. Then over the weeks following your CoolSculpting treatment, your body processes and removes the damaged cells. You could notice results after just one treatment, but you could need a series of body-sculpting treatments to achieve your optimal results.

Who is a good candidate for body sculpting?

If you’re in good health and close to your desired body weight, but struggling to tone your stomach or other trouble spots on your body, you are probably an excellent candidate for body-sculpting treatments.

What happens during a body sculpting treatment?

During your body sculpting treatment, you relax in a comfortable treatment chair. Dr. Allingham applies a gel pad to the part of your body you want to target and attaches the CoolSculpting applicator device. Your skin will get cold, and you might notice a mild suction on your skin. After 5-10 minutes, you’ll be numb.

Depending on your needs, your session could take 35-60 minutes. You can read, watch television, or catch up on your emails during your appointment. The procedure is noninvasive, and you can get right back to your regular activities when your treatment is over.
